Washtucna community Fourth of July activities announced

Community members are invited to celebrate Independence Day the “old-fashioned” way at Bassett Park in Washtucna.

The day begins with the Firemen’s breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and will be serving until 9 a.m.

The parades will begin at 10:30 a.m. starting with the kiddie parade, followed by the main parade.

The ceremonial flag raising takes place at noon, followed by a potluck lunch of desserts and salads.

The Lions Club will supply hamburgers, hot dogs and condiments, along with drinks.

Drinks consist of ice tea, lemonade and pop will be available for the cost of $1.

After the meal, the local swimming pool will be open for community members to enjoy free of charge from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A horseshoe tournament will begin at 1 p.m. in the park and bingo will end the day festivities at 1:30 p.m.
