Burning season ends June 18

Open burning within Adams County and the city limits of Ritzville will close at dusk on Sunday, June 18, according to Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 Chief Scott Kembel and Ritzville Fire Chief Bill Banner.

No open fires for the burning of vegetation or other matter are permitted in town or in rural areas. Agricultural burns with permits and backyard recreational fires are still allowed.

The chiefs also remind citizens that as drying conditions become more severe to take extra care with barbecues, cigarettes and as the Fourth of July approaches, fireworks.

Any type of outdoor fire requires constant attention and care.

Burning season remains closed until the fall.
