Scholarship available for local seniors

Applications are now available for the Paul Simonson Memorial Scholarship, for the academic year of 2016-2017, through the Ritzville Classic Car Club.

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded this year.

Candidates must be a full-time student with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher at Lind-Ritzville, Sprague or Washtucna high schools at the time of the application.

The student must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited educational or training institution studying Auto Mechanic Technology, Diesel Mechanic Technology or an automotive related field.

The deadline for submitting an application is April 1, 2017. Application forms are available at each of the high schools listed above.

The Ritzville Classic Car Club holds an annual car show on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. Proceeds from the show provide funding for the scholarship.
