Big Bend Electric Co-op awards scholarships

Three scholarships were awarded at the 78th Big Bend Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting held on March 4 at the American Legion Hall in Ritzville.

The winners are all seniors at their respective high schools.

They are Britte Harder, Lacrosse High School, daughter of Jim and Trish Harder of Washtucna; Felicia Ziemer, Lind-Ritzville High School, daughter of Kent and Vicki Ziemer, Ritzville and Jamie Jacobs, Connell High School, daughter of James and Amy Jacobs, Eltopia.

The students were introduced to the membership at which time they read their scholarship essays.

The scholarships are $500 a year for up to four years with a total value of $2,000.

Two students were introduced to the members in attendance who will participate in the NRECA Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., this June.

They are McKenna Lovejoy from Eltopia, a junior attending Tri-Cities Prep in Pasco, and Justin Naef from Basin City a junior at Connell High School. McKenna is the daughter of Diann Lovejoy and Justin is the son of Matt and Danell Naef.
