Lantrip retires after 30 years working for Adams County

Lifelong resident of Ritzville, Sheryl Lantrip, has moved into retirement after a dedicated 30 years with the Adams County Treasurer’s Office.

In 1985, Lantrip read an ad for an open position in the investment department at the Adams County Treasurer’s Office.

After applying and completing the interview process, she was hired by Louise Brewer. Lantrip stated she had no formal experience dealing with investing, county or government work but was excited and motivated about the position.

She was quick to learn her requirements for the position and made the perfect fit for the office with extra abilities to assist with other tasks and requests from fellow employees.

Lantrip claimed investing quickly became her favorite part of her daily duties and when asked of her feelings toward the job she held she stated the whole experience was an enjoyable one.

Lantrip thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of the foreclosure investing position she held and loved being able to assist patrons and their families with their investments.

She especially enjoyed helping families work through difficult times throughout financial hardships and through working together helping them pay and keep their homes.

Lantrip met her husband Tony, a resident of Elk, Washington, in 2001 and the couple married nine months later. Now retired, Lantrip plans to move to Elk to begin a life with her husband. For nearly eight years, Lantrip’s mother has been living in her care and will continue to reside with Lantrip in Elk.

Now in retirement, Lantrip plans to enjoy her time reading, mysteries being her favorite, baking and volunteering at the local Lutheran Church in Elk helping young children learn education skills such as reading and writing.

She is also excited to spend time with her step-grandchildren belonging to her husband’s daughter living in Spokane.

Lantrip expresses that after living in Ritzville her whole life and working in the same office for 30 years has been a blessing.

The things she will miss most will be her long time friends in her work and personal life.

Lantrip felt she had great office relations and enjoyed every day she spent working in the investing department.

Her fellow employees couldn’t agree more describing Lantrip as an enjoyable person with a positive attitude and caring nature.
