COLLISION

COLLISION. Ritzville Emergency Medical Services, Ritzville Fire Department and Washington State Patrol responded to a one vehicle collision on eastbound I-90, just before the Ritzville exit at milepost 220. The collision occured around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with an embankment. The Seattle driver, Walker England, had been traveling eastbound in the 1999 Freightliner Semi when he fell asleep at the wheel, leaving the roadway. The semi jacknifed into a ravine and England was ejected from the semi. England was transported by ambulance to East Adams Rural Hospital, before being transported by MedStar to Sacred Heart. Fire crews remained on scene to examine a broken fuel line and ensure the fuel tank was not also leaking. -Journal photo by Katelin Davidson
