Lind Town Council discusses community block grant

Mayor Pro-Tem Kindra Haase called the regular Lind Town Council meeting to order on Tuesday, June 23.

Allen Gay spoke on updates regarding the current well projects, Resolution 15-02, regarding golf cart registration and annual fees, reached resolution and the final airport project payment was made.

Allen Gay, project manager from Stantec Consulting Services Inc., Spoke with the council regarding the ongoing well projects. Speaking specifically about well No. 6, Gay informed council and present community members about 139 gallons per minute is what the pump will be able to produce at the expected water table and pressure requirements.

This rate will be a lower flow rate than possible with the current potable supply, but will fill a 5,000-gallon tank in about 36 minutes.

Gay brought to council a potential change order for the improvement proposal plan prepared June 11 by Shannon Industrial Contractors. The total package price of the project is $45,432.17.

The town’s Community Development Block Grant with approximately $29,000 available for the change order funds the well rehabilitation project. Therefore, the town would need to allocate approximately $16,432 in other funds to award this change order.

Councilperson Kathy White made the motion to accept the change order, pay the $16,432, and receive the $29,000

available toward the project. With a second by Councilperson Paula Bell the motion was carried unanimously.

A pay request for the final payment toward the completed airport project was presented and accepted.

Professional Services Design Invoice was presented totally to the amount of $1,830.66 as the final payment for the project.

Council was pleased the project has reached a completion on all accords. With a motion made by Strohmaier to pay the final invoice amount of less than $2,000, a quick second followed by Councilperson Karissa Labes and the motion was approved with one against.

Resolution 15-02 regarding golf cart registration and annual fees was resolved after few minor corrections.

To abide by the ordinance 15-01 establishing a golf cart zone, the Town Counicl of the Town of Lind requires golf cart registration.

No golf cart shall be operated on any street or alley of the Town of Lind unless the owner has registered the vehicle with the Town of Lind. Registration of proposed golf carts must be administrated by the mayor and shall be accompanied by an annual registration fee of $15.00 and proof of liability insurance for the golf cart.

Registered golf carts will be issued a sticker that shall be affixed to the vehicle in a prominent visible location as directed by the mayor and copies of Ordinance 15-01 can be at Lind Town Hall.
