Ritzville residents asked to be on alert for counterfeit bills

On April 27 there were three $50 counterfeit bills passed at local businesses in Ritzville. Each of the bills has the same serial number.

The paper quality is not the same as US Currency, there are no visible embossed strips when you hold the bills up to light, the ink appears smeared, the color is off, there are no fibers visible in the paper, and the photo and other markings are not crisp.

The serial number displayed on these $50.00 bills is AG61812422B

If you suspect you have one of these bills or someone is attempting to pass one of the bills, please call the Ritzville Police Department at 659-1313 as soon as possible.

Do not accept a bill if you suspect it is counterfeit.

Do not confront the person attempting to pass the bill.

The US Secret Service has been notified.
