Four LRS seniors invited to All-Star game Friday

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague basketball teams have four athletes invited to compete in the third annual senior All-Star Basketball Game for District 7.

The game is set for Friday, March 13, in the Davenport Sports Facilities.

From the LRS Broncos squad, Kyle Canaday and Cort Ruzicka both received invitations.

Representing the Lady Broncos in the All-Star game are Mallory Kessler and Jenna Bennett.

The teams are compiled of athletes from throughout the District 7 area and all are seniors in high school. The players were all nominated to compete by coaches and administrators in the district.

At the event, players check in and practice until 5:15 p.m. when a three-point shooting contest begins. The shooting competition lasts for a half an hour before moving into the girls’ game.

The girls’ game runs from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The boys’ game begins immediately afterwards.

The game serves as an opportunity for senior athletes and longtime rivals to have the chance to play basketball one more time in their high school careers.

The event has been successful the last two years and is hosted by the Davenport Associated Student Body.

All of the athletes participating in the game receive a free meal and a keepsake jersey to commemorate their experience in the All-Star game.

Dinner is also available for purchase for any spectators at the event.

The games are open to the public and community members are encouraged to come support the senior athletes.
