Bereavement classes are now available

Pastor Judith Rinehart-Nelson from Zion Philadelphia UCC will be leading Bereavement Classes for five Thursdays starting on Feb. 19.

Pastor Judith was a Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator. The classes will be held at Memories Diner at 6 p.m. There will also be online Bereavement Classes.

Bereavement is the period of grief and mourning after a death, loss of a job or some other form of personal loss.

Grieving is normal. Individuals can experience grief as a mental, physical or spiritual reaction. Mental reactions can include anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness and despair. Physical reactions can include sleeping problems, changes in appetite, physical problems or illness. Spiritual reactions can include loss of belief, trust and purpose.

When grieving a person can lose interest in doing the things they once enjoyed.

Those experiencing symptoms of grief may be interesting in attending Bereavement Classes where they will learn more about working through grief and finding a new normal.
