CEO Corner: Updates from EARH

Community members of Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2, we appreciate your support for our facility. Voting yes to approve the Bond to renovate the Hospital and Clinic allows us to begin to modernize the building and put our facility in compliance with current State and Federal requirements. Modernization will also provide a strong basis for health care services into the future.

A representative from NAC, our architect firm and I will be traveling to Olympia to ask for an extension on the May 1, 2015 date for fire life safety issues. This will allow us to install the facility’s sprinkler systems as we renovate rather than before May 1, 2015, the deadline set by the State and Medicare. Installation during renovation will eliminate the need to install now, and reinstall later to accommodate new plans.

The donation process of Life Care Center of Ritzville has taken longer than expected. The donation agreement should be completed within the next weeks. We anticipate the transfer to Adams County Public Hospital District #2 to be complete by February 2015. To reflect our new services, we will have a new name. During the November board meeting, District Commissioners adopted a name change from East Adams Rural Hospital to East Adams Rural Healthcare.

Look for articles in The Journal as well as electronic media to keep informed of progress on our project. We are on track and work has begun on the electrical fixes. Major items such as the air handlers should arrive in the next week or two.

Thank you for your continued support!
