Lady Broncos dominate opponent in road game

On Saturday Oct. 4 the Lady Broncos trekked to Springdale to face the Mary-Walker Chargers. The Broncos swept victory in three sets; 25-13, 25-15 and 25-13.

Coach Cari Galbreath was happy to leave Springdale with such a decisive win saying it would have been easy for the girls to drop their level of play after the bus ride there.

Despite the long ride the Lady Broncos played exceptionally well.

Jana Mattox, Sara Aldrich, Jenna Bennett, Madison Harder and Tessa Jantz all served 100 percent from the line during the game.

Mallory Kessler played very well, scoring nine kills and four aces during the match.

The Broncos then faced off against the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats on Tuesday.

Before the game Galbreath was a little nervous because of Homecoming week and all the distractions that go along with it. She was glad the game was earlier in the week so the team would not be tired from the week’s events.

She expected it to be an emotional game and that the team would need to remain calm and focused to win their game.

The Wildcats are new to the league this year but Galbreath reckoned them to be in the top half of the league this year.

During the first two sets of the game the Broncos were able to win in close fought sets. They had a difficult time serving but otherwise played vey well.

In the third and fourth sets game the ladies lost a step, falling 19-25 and 13-25.

The fifth set however, the Broncos were able to rally back to their game winning the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.

Kallie Harder and Peyton Curtis served 100 percent from the line during the Wilbur-Creston match.Mallory Kessler and Tessa Jantz led the offense; Kessler with one ace and 12 kills and Jantz with one ace and 11 kills.

On Thursday the team will travel again to face the St. George’s Dragons. Galbreath said the game will be a test of the team’s focus. The Broncos were able to handle the Dragons during the Rosalia Tournament but they are a team that continues to improve as the season progresses.
