Marjorie Katherine Allert

Marjorie Katherine Allert died September 10 at the Adams County Hospital in Ritzville, she was 93 years old.

Marge was born November 29, 1920 in Pasco. Her parents were Katherine Klundt and Leslie Mitchell. She graduated from Pullman High School in 1948 and attended WSC through her junior year.

In 1941, she married her high school and college sweetheart, Richard Allert.

Richard enlisted in the Army in 1942. While pregnant with their first child, Marge traveled by train to Washington, DC to join Rich.

While he was away training, she gave birth to their son, Mitch. While Rich was stationed in the Phillipines, she gave birth to their second son, Gerry. At the time she was living with her mother in Pasco. The family was reunited in California until Rich received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps.

In 1947, the family moved to the Allert farm in Benge. In 1949, their son Les was born. The family moved to Ritzville in 1955 but still continued to farm until the 1970’s.

Marjorie was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and past member of the WSU Cougar Club and the Priest Lake Yacht Club. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Zenith Chapter.

For 42 years, she was a volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society.

Marge is survived by her sons Gerry Allert of Sprague and Les (Dianne) Allert of Chewelah. Grandchildren, Brent Allert of Arnold Maryland; Kip (Paola) Allert, of Santa Cruz, California; Trisha (Tim) Frye of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Traci (Rob) Shank of Forest Hills, Maryland; and Rachea Allert of Spokane, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and son Mitch. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Ritzville. Private Inurnment will be at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Marjorie to the Trinity Methodist Church, PO Box 2, Ritzville 99169.

Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory of Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
