Peter Adam Weber

Peter Adam Weber died peacefully at his daughters home in Mapleton, Utah, on July 9. He was 89 years old.

He was born on the family farm near Ritzville on May 11, 1925 to John and Lucy Weber. He was the fifth of 10 children. He grew up on the wheat farm near the community of Packard. He attended school in a small schoolhouse near the farm and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1943. He participated in several sports while in high school and was a member of the FFA and 4-H programs.

After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the Philippine Islands and Japan. He was honorably discharged and returned to Ritzville.

He became employed by the Odessa Union Warehouse Company at its Packard location and worked there for a short time before enrolling at Kinman Business School in Spokane. While attending school in Spokane he became employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company as a Credit Sales Manager Trainee.

After graduation from Kinman, Pete was promoted to Assistant Credit Sales Manager in the Spokane store.

During that time, he met Shirley Heimbigner and the couple was married on April 3, 1948, in Ritzville. While living in Spokane, Keith and Renee were born. Shortly thereafter, Pete was transferred to Chehalis as the Credit Sales Manager in that store.

While in Chehalis, Valerie was born in Olympia.

The family lived in Chehalis for three years until Pete was again transferred to Caldwell, Idaho.

He managed the Credit Department in the Caldwell store for five years and was transferred to Boise.

After seven years in Boise, he was transferred to San Bernardino, California and eventually Covina, California.

After 30 years, Pete took an early retirement from Sears and pursued a new career in real estate.

He eventually became a broker and opened his own office in Yucaipa, California and operated the business for several years. In California, Pete was an active member of the Elks Lodge and served as an Exalted Ruler.

Pete and Shirley were later divorced and Pete moved back to eastern Washington, eventually settling in the Quincy area.

After living in the Quincy area for several years, he met Wanda Larsen and the couple purchased property and built a home on several acres between Quincy and Ephrata.

While developing the property and eventually planting a Christmas tree farm and large garden, Pete worked for the Quincy Post Office and the Moose Lodge performing various maintenance duties. He was an active member of the Quincy Moose Lodge during that time.

Four years ago, Pete suffered a stroke and was unable to work as much as he would have liked. He was always busy with several projects around the house and at his two jobs.

He maintained a very demanding schedule and it was difficult for him to scale down.

Due to his health issues eventually declining, it became necessary for him to require special care and he moved to Mapleton to live with daughter Valerie and her family.

A memorial service was held on July 27 in Mapleton after cremation.

An additional memorial service is being planned in Ritzville for Oct. 11 where he will be interred at the Adams-Lincoln County Line Cemetery along with other members of his family.

Pete is survived by a son, Keith Weber in George, daughters Renee Patrick in Yucaipa, California, and Valerie Root and husband John in Mapleton, his companion of 25 years, Wanda Larsen in Quincy, a brother Mike and his wife, Nancy from Ritzville, sister in-law Marjean Weber of the Seattle area, numerous nieces, nephews, 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great- great- grandchildren.
