Ritzville Police Department Reports

May 17, 7:16 a.m. – Complainant advised an individual lost car keys while at the car wash and the vehicle is now parked in front of the wash bay. Chief McCormick spoke with the car owner who advised the car would be towed to Moses Lake to have a new key made. The vehicle was not blocking the use of the wash bay.

May 16, 7:59 p.m. –

Complainant requested contact regarding a custody issue. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant on West Main Avenue who advised of a scheduled visitation with the child, and child did not show up. The complainant wanted the issue to be documented.

May 16, 5:21 p.m. – Complainant requested police assistance in moving a vehicle blocking the float from being loaded into the trailer at the Ritzville Festivals’ Association building. Chief McCormick contacted the vehicle owner who moved the vehicle immediately.

May 15, 7:52 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a welfare check request on West First Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the subject who stated everything was okay.

May 15, 7:49 p.m. –

Dispatch advised of an anonymous complainant that an aggressive dog had bitten a child in the 600 block of West Main Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the subject who advised the six-month old puppy had snapped at a child, but had not intended harm. The child indicated the dog had nipped at the shoulder and face area, but did not have any physical marks of an attack.

May 15, 1:02 a.m. –

Sergeant Cameron was requested by dispatch to assist jail staff with an uncooperative inmate. Cameron responded and the inmate was removed from the cell without incident.

May 14, 10:19 p.m. – Complainant advised a pair of Air Jordan shoes, worth $135, were stolen by a subject while the complainant was at the skate park and had left the shoes under a bench.

Sergeant Cameron made contact and the complainant advised witnessing the subject taking the shoes and leaving in a vehicle. Cameron checked several locations in town where the subject was known to frequent, and was unable to locate. The subject is also listed as a runaway from Lind. On May 16, the complainant advised the subject had returned the shoes because the subject heard the police were looking for her. The complainant did not want to press charges.

May 14, 4:48 p.m. –

Complainant wanted to dispose of property another relative had left behind and requested contact with Chief McCormick, who advised the complainant to contact the subject and find out what should be done with the items.

May 13, 10:55 p.m. – Complainant advised of a younger male contacting the complainant while at work at Rose Garden Estates. The subject claimed to have cancer and was making inquiries about the facility, when the conversation suddenly turned sexual. The subject continued to say he knew the night shift workers were alone in the facility, and had called from a blocked number. The complainant requested the night shift patrolmen checked the area more frequently. Sergeant Cameron checked the perimeter multiple times and did not observe the subject.

May 13, 4:57 p.m. – Chief McCormick contacted the court clerk in reference to an LI request for the courts to amend a restraining order from 500 feet to 100 feet, as the residences are less than 500 feet apart. Both subjects agreed to the terms and were warned about violations of the order.

May 13, 4:13 p.m. – Complainant advised of a vehicle speeding through the area of South Jackson Street and Tenth Avenue again. Chief McCormick contacted the subject and issued a stern warning about his driving. McCormick made contact with the complainant and the parent of the driver regarding the issue.

May 12, 3:02 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a theft complaint and the complainant was awaiting contact in the sheriff’s office. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who advised two weeks ago a roommate’s bicycle had been stolen.

May 12, 11:44 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a citizen assist complaint at Harvest Foods regarding two subjects who had not returned rented movies. Gracie attempted to contact the subjects at their residences.
