Danekas announces decision to file for reelection

Adams County Treasurer Laura Danekas has announced her decision to file for reelection in her current position during the upcoming election.

Danekas is currently serving in her 21st year as the Adams County Treasurer and believes she still has more to offer.

“I just feel like I have a lot more to offer to the county,” Danekas said. “There’s the possibility of providing new services and I’m very knowledgeable about the position.”

Danekas moved to Ritzville in May 1976 and began her tenure in the Treasurer’s Office in 1979 as an employee. She then worked her way up through every position within the office, before being appointed to the position of County Treasurer in 1993, following the retirement of Louise Brewer.

If reelected into a sixth term, Danekas has a list of priority items she hopes to complete, which include creating a website for the Treasurer’s Office and updating software between her office and the Auditor’s Office to have all data interfaced between the two offices. The website would provide the public with a list of county owned properties for sale and would make the tax rolls accessible to the public.

“One of my big goals is to make sure all of our data interfaces with the Auditor’s Office,” Danekas said. “I want to link into her software and provide a better service to the taxing districts and taxpayers.”

Danekas is seeking reelection to continue serving the taxpayers of the county by providing them with an efficient and constantly improving Treasurer’s Office. She strives to continue to have a good bond with her employees and provide support for the staff within her office.
