County elected positions top list of open positions as filing begins

The Adams County Auditor’s Office is accepting filings for local offices beginning Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16. The local offices open for filing are auditor, assessor, treasurer, clerk, Ritzville district court judge, Othello district court judge, prosecuting attorney, sheriff, superior court judge and commissioner district 3.

The incumbent in the auditor position is Heidi Hunt, the incumbent for assessor is Sherri Brewer, the incumbent for treasurer is Laura Danekas, and Susan Kirkendall is the incumbent for clerk. All four positions require a filing fee of $552.

The Ritzville district court judge incumbent is Adalia Hille and Othello district court judge is Gary Brueher. Both positions require a $772.72 filing fee.

The incumbent for prosecuting attorney is Randy Flyckt, and the position requires a $1,108.07 filing fee. Superior court judge incumbent is Steven Dixon, and the position has a $1,518.09 filing fee.

All persons filing for Judge and Prosecuting Attorney must be an attorney licensed to practice law in Washington state and be a registered voter.

The position of sheriff is currently filled by incumbent John Hunt and requires a $693 filing fee. In the commissioner district three position, Jeff Stevens is incumbent and the position has a $430 filing fee.

All persons filing for county commissioner must be a registered voter within the commissioner district that they are filing. For questions regarding which commissioner district you reside in, call 509-659-3249.

Filing fees are collected at the time of filing and are non-refundable.

Filing is also open for precinct committee officers. There is no filing fee for these positions. For information regarding state, legislative, and judicial offices visit: http://www.vote.wa.gov.

All filings are accepting daily during the filing week at the Adams County Auditor’s Office, located at 201 West Broadway Avenue Suite 200 in Ritzville. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Filings are also accepted online at http://www.co.adams.wa.us. To access online filing, select “Elections” on the menu at the left side of the Adams County website.

Any online submissions of Declarations of Candidacy must be completed no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16.
