Blaze destroys RV, van

Ritzville firefighters tackled an early Sunday morning fire in the 500 block of West Broadway that started in an RV.

The blaze was reported at 6:52 a.m.

The vehicle was parked in the alley and was fully involved when crews arrived.

The fire, fueled by a propane tank in the motorhome, also spread to a van parked nearby.

Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to any structures.

Fire Chief Jim Bostic said 10 firefighters and three trucks were used to knock down the fire. He said it took about 20 minutes to squelch the flames and then an hour to mop up.

Avista also responded to the scene for a downed power line.

No one was home at the time and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Bostic said it was clear the fire started inside the RV.
