Dinner theatre troupe sets March production

The Ritzville Community Theatre (RCT) is presenting three productions of dinner theatre during the month of March. The group is performing “Checkmate” with one presentation at Trinity United Methodist Church on March 14 and two performances at Memories Diner on March 28 and March 29.

Checkmate is a comedy written by Miles Athey and Harry Schafer, and has been written specifically as a dinner theatre production.

The play is set in Lordy Be Rest Home in the Wild West, and follows the happenings at the rest home facility, which are being chronicled by a reporter. The cast includes the owner who is also a resident at the home, the manager, two employees, the reporter, a doctor who is also a resident, the doctor’s daughter and granddaughter and three other residents of the home.

Doors open for each of the three performances at 6 p.m. Tickets for the performance at TUMC should be purchased by March 12 and by March 26 for the performances at Memories Diner in order to facilitate food-planning preparation.

Tickets are available for $22 and can be purchased at the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 111 West Main Avenue.
