LRMS Barking Points: Stuffed animal drive a success

The thought of being an honorable, responsible and caring person is motivation for many to be kinder, work harder, and help others.

Two Lind-Ritzville Middle School students, who are also National Junior Honor Society members, are taking this motivational steam and using it to power their locomotive engines to make a change.

They are powering full speed ahead on the railroad track of life as they lead a heartfelt and generous mission to make local children smile! Sharon Anderson and Lacey Miller conducted their first stuffed animal drive to benefit Lind Preschool’s Little Christmas Store in the past few days at Lind-Ritzville Middle School and Lind Grade School. Their citizenship and leadership skills were appreciated while they helped support a worthy cause.

Anderson and Miller demonstrated great responsibility throughout their project. They placed donation boxes in the Lind-Ritzville Middle School and Lind Grade School offices from Friday, Nov. 15, to Friday, Nov. 22, where they received several generous donations.

Since their fall stuffed animal drive was so successful, Anderson and Miller are excited to continue their project through three additional installments during the rest of the school year.

Each of the different stuffed animal drives will benefit a different organization. Bears, dogs, cats, and bunnies alike will be spreading smiles to children across the Lind and Ritzville communities all year long!

Anderson and Miller selected an excellent and highly worthy cause to give their first donations to. Lind Preschool’s Little Christmas Store is sure to spread joy this holiday season! Mrs. Lori Olson, the preschool teacher at Lind Grade School, started the project last year. The project’s goal is to accumulate donations of toys, games, books, and other items to be put in a “store” for Lind Elementary Students to choose free gifts that they will then give to their families over the holidays.

Lind Preschool’s Little Christmas Store encourages the spirit of giving, and is currently accepting donations just like those from the Lind-Ritzville Middle School stuffed animal drive.

To have a kind thought is always appreciated, and it is even better to show that you care. Sharon Anderson and Lacey Miller took action and set an excellent example throughout Lind-Ritzville Middle School by leading the first of their four stuffed animal drives to benefit Lind Preschool’s Little Christmas Store this past week. Anderson and Miller demonstrated great kindness as they worked together to increase character and raise spirits at Lind-Ritzville Middle School!
