General Election: Schmunk retains role as mayor of Lind

With two candidates on the General Election ballot for the Town of Lind mayor position, incumbent Jamie Schmunk has been reelected to serve a second term for the town. Schmunk received 65.05 percent of total votes, defeating challenger and former mayor, Larry Koch, to continue in the mayoral position.

Schmunk unseated Koch four years ago in the last General Election, and ran for reelection in order to continue serving the community in a positive and informed way. Schmunk explained her priority is to improve the infrastructure of the town, and also to promote the community in hopes of attracting more visitors to the Town of Lind.

The Town of Lind also had two contested council positions on the ballot. Incumbent Rosemary Elkington has been unseated by Karissa Labes, with Labes earning 57.89 percent of votes.

In the Council Position 2 race, Kathy White defeated Calah Kulm to earn the four-year position with Lind Town Council. White received 54.50 percent of votes to earn the council seat.

The last opposed race in the district was in Washtucna, where Carol Thompson received 79.25 percent of votes over Bruce Knudson for the Parks and Recreation District No. 2, Commissioner No. 2 position.
