Lenard Roth

Lenard (Lennie) Roth died at the age of 90 on Aug. 3 in Spokane.

He was born July 26, 1923, to John and Lydia Roth, first generation Russian/German immigrants, at the family farm north of Lind.

He attended Lind schools through the eighth grade and went straight to farming with his father, which was his passion. He received an honorary Lind High School diploma later in life for his great community involvement and support.

He took over the farm operations from his folks in the early 1940’s.

He married Maxine Wright in January 1947 and together they ran the farm. He loved family, friends, farming, and all things mechanical and electrical.

Later in life he took up golf, which he enjoyed immensely.

He was actively involved in many community events and helped with the annual Lind combine derby. In addition to farming full time, he had a television sales and repair business. It has been told he built the first television set in Adams County.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Doug Wahl family for all their love, care and support for him and Maxine over the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine in 1987; brother, William Roth; sister, Betty Schafer.

He is survived by sister, Edna Robar of Spokane; nephews, Scott (Merilee) Robar of Spokane, Ron (Karen) Robar of Portland and Bill Roth of Bothell; nieces, Gail (Tom) Carroll of Spokane Valley, and Julie Roth of Bothell; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Lind Grange Hall, immediately followed by a lunch reception. A private family burial will be held at the Lind Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to the Lind Lions Club PO Box 37, Lind WA 99341; or the Alzheimer’s Association of the Inland Northwest Chapter, 910 W. 5th Avenue, Suite 256, Spokane WA 99204.

Danekas Funeral Home of Ritzville is entrusted with the arrangements.
