Luminaria ceremony shines light on cancer

TRIBUTES. Create your own luminaria bag to honor a family member or beloved friend who has lost the fight or continues to battle cancer. Or, decorate an uplifting bag and make a contribution to the cause.

The most emotional moment during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ritzville is the luminaria ceremony that takes place on Friday night at the Ritzville Rodeo Grounds.

The ceremony begins promptly at 10 p.m. when the candles are lighted inside the bags and the names of those who have battled cancer are scrolled on a projection screen.

Organizers of the event are encouraging anybody to attend the nighttime ceremony and show support for those who have struggled with cancer in their lifetime.
