City poised to award $541,188 construction bid for Division Street, Bauman Road intersection upgrade

Advanced Excavation of Moses Lake was the apparent low bidder for a major intersection and street improvement project in Ritzville.

The company’s bid for the Division Street/Smitty’s Boulevard/Bauman Road Improvement Project was $541,188.06.

On Tuesday, July 2, Ritzville City Council members authorized the mayor to award the bid once the conditions were met. The award is contingent upon the state’s Transportation Improvement Board and the city’s engineering firm Varela & Associates confirming the company’s references and the accuracy of the bid documents.

The bid came in well under the engineering firm’s project estimate of $648,900. The difference was $132,018.02.

The project will completely reconstruct the intersection, remove the large oval planter, extend streets and sidewalks to the entrance of Cow Creek Mercantile and create a free left-hand turn from Bauman Road on to Division Street.
