Six candidates selected for principal in Lind

Following the board of directors’ approval at the April board meeting of the resignation of Brian Ellis as principal the Lind School District, school administrators conducted interviews for six candidates on April 30 and May 1.

The six candidates interviewing for the vacant position are Matt McClain, Brandon Byers, Karen Hay, Guy Strot, Brandon Bouge and Jaron Jenson.

All six candidates had an opportunity to participate in a 15-minute public forum discussion with members from the community.

The candidates answered three questions from the mediator leading the discussions regarding the decision to apply for the position, the ongoing issue of bullying inside of schools, and how to communicate efficiently with parents. Within the allotted time, candidates also answered questions from the members of the public in attendance.

The candidate hired into the position will serve as the preschool through eighth grade principal in Lind Elementary School and Lind-Ritzville Middle School.
