Boy with local ties places first in skateboard competition

Chase Johnson, an 11-year-old from Spokane Valley, placed first in the beginner division at the Lake City Skate Jam. Pyramid Skate Shop sponsored the event at the Coeur d’Alene Skate Park on Saturday, July 28.

Johnson competed in the beginner division which consisted of athletes 13 years and younger. He received a trophy made out of a skateboard for his efforts and achievement.

Skateboarding is one of Johnson’s favorite hobbies and he has skated in parks throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
