June 2, 1:58 p.m. – While on patrol Deputy Dan Verhey observed a large rock in the roadway on East Highway 26 near milepost 89. Dep. Verhey removed the rock and asked dispatch to let the WSP dispatch know of the traffic hazard. Sergeant Troy Mock was advised by email.

June 2, 11:52 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Verhey checked a building on East Benge-Winona Road for open doors and found the door to the shop was unlocked. Dep. Verhey locked the door and observed nothing out of the ordinary.

May 31, 11:31 a.m. – Flight Services from Prescott Valley, Ariz., reported an overdue aircraft. Complainant called back that the pilot had been located at the Lind Airport before a response was made on the call.

May 30, 4:40 p.m. – Lind complainant requests contact. Deputy Ben Buriak called the complainant and was advised that their juvenile child left the house without permission. Dep. Buriak later made contact with the juvenile and brought them home. Child protective services and family reconciliation services will be contacting the complainant tomorrow.

May 30, 9:55 a.m. – Deputy Jeffery Lane performed a welfare check at an address on West Second Street in Lind. All was fine.

May 30, 8:36 a.m. – Lind complainant advised that their daughter ran away from their home on East Fifth Street. The juvenile was found and delivered to the school.

May 29, 12:04 p.m. – Ritzville complainant requested contact. Deputy Roy Montalvo called the complainant who advised they received a phone call from a subject advising them that the government wanted to give the complainant $7,200 for being good on their taxes. Complainant was given another phone number to call. Complainant advised they called the number provided and spoke with a subject with a foreign accent. The subject requested that the complainant enter a code into their computer so they can receive the money. Complainant stated that they told the subject to forget it and hung up the phone.

May 28, 6:54 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a juvenile being locked out of their home on East Fifth Street. Deputy Ned Bernath arrived at the scene and learned that the child had made contact with their parents, who were now home. Dep. Bernath transported the juvenile to their residence.

May 28, 5:37 p.m. – Washtucna complainant called and reported a female subject was holding a $5,000 deposit on their property on North Main Street due to a pending investigation. Deputy Verhey advised the complainant the money issue was a civil matter but advised the deputy in charge of the case could call them. An email was sent to Deputy Bernath regarding the matter.

May 28, 12:42 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by WSP regarding a possible weapon incident on I-90. The suspect(s) possibly had a handgun and waived or pointed it at Trooper Dustin Stephan. Deputy Verhey responded to I-90 westbound near milepost 221. Sergeant Brian Taylor was advised.

May 27, 10:35 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised their child is supposed to be at a residence on West Second Street in Lind so their grandmother can pick them up. When the grandmother got to the residence she was told the child was not there. Grandmother believes the child is there and the residents will not let the child leave. Shortly thereafter, grandmother saw the child get in a vehicle with other adults, who advised the grandmother they were taking the child home.

May 27, 8:39 p.m. – Warrant arrest made on South St. Claire Avenue in Lind. Deputy Buriak located and arrested Sherri Lynn Bean on a Grant County misdemeanor warrant.

May 27, 1:47 p.m. – Othello complainant advised of an audible alarm at a business off North Highway 261, Ritzville. Deputy Buriak responded and determined that the alarm was accidentally tripped by an employee. Responsible was contacted and turned off the alarm.

May 26, 8:58 p.m. – Lind complainant advised that their child left home before 10 a.m. and it is 9 p.m. and the child has not come home. Complainant later called back and advised their child had come home. Complainant requests contact. Deputy Buriak called the complainant as requested and complainant advised their child was home and fine.

May 26, 6:15 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a vehicle towing a trailer containing scrap steel at a location on North Seivers Road. Deputy Bernath located the vehicle. Deputy Buriak took over the investigation.

May 26, 12:53 p.m. – WSP advised they received a call regarding subjects shooting firearms in the direction of I-90 from North Klein Road and East Schoessler Road, Ritzville. Deputy Verhey contacted the area and observed a male and a juvenile shooting firearms in the direction of the southwest. Dep. Verhey observed they had a good backstop and were not firing in the direction of any roadway.

May 26, 11:55 a.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Verhey located an open door at a location on East Second Street in Lind. Dep. Verhey checked the building and it was clear and so he locked the door.

May 26, 7:50 a.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Verhey contacted subjects who were parked in a lot on West First Avenue. The subjects advised they were traveling from Spokane to Kennewick and stopped looking for a hotel. No hotels had rooms so they parked at the location. The subjects were advised they were on private property and they needed to move on.

May 25, 12:50 a.m. – Lind complainant advised of subjects swimming in the Lind City pool. Deputy Buriak contacted the listed subjects who were swimming in the pool. Dep. Buriak contacted the Lind mayor who advised they did not want charges pressed but the subjects could do community service around the park/pool area instead. The subjects were informed of the mayor’s decision.

May 25, 6:10 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of subjects on the property on North Neilson Road, digging in the garbage. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant who advised them they told the subjects to leave and not come back. The subjects complied.

May 25, 5:35 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by CPS for a welfare check on a juvenile in Lind. Deputy Buriak contacted the juvenile on East Fifth Street and they were fine.

May 25, 5:34 p.m. – Lind complainant advised that their fiancé had been receiving what they thought to be telephone scam calls that are now death threats, with a description of the resident’s house. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant who advised the scam was that they had won a lot of money and a car but to collect it they had to send in money for it. When they refused, the caller became angry and made threats to kill them and explained they knew where the complainant lived and was able to describe the complainant’s house. The phone number given comes back to a number from Jamaica, even though the caller advised they were from Seattle.

May 25, 4:11 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by the Adams County Jail to help with a subject who was being seen by the county nurse. Sergeant Mock assisted and cleared without incident.

May 25, 3:42 p.m. – Hatton complainant called to see if they could shoot rattlesnakes in the town of Hatton. Complainant advised there are some in the park and around city hall. Complainant stated they were a threat to children playing in the park. Sergeant Mock advised the complainant to handle the situation in a safe manner and to not endanger anyone or property.

May 25, 12:04 p.m. –

Washtucna complainant advised of theft from a mailbox near East Herman Road.

May 25, 12:00 p.m. – Ritzville complainant found a wallet on Main Avenue. Deputy Lane contacted the owner and placed it into evidence to await their retrieval on May 28.

May 25, 12:23 a.m. – Lind complainant requested someone drive by during the night and spot light the four-runner that is parked along side complainant’s house. Complainant further advised that some people have been threatening to steal parts off of it. Deputy Aaron Madison drove through the area and spot lighted the vehicle as well.

May 24, 9:24 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by WSP Trooper Randall Elkins for traffic control for an injury collision on I-90 westbound near milepost 221. Deputy Madison responded.

May 24, 8:20 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested at the Adams County Jail. Deputy Madison assisted jail staff with issuing medication to an inmate. Dep. Madison cleared without incident.

May 24, 7:45 p.m. – Ritzville complainant requested extra patrols around their residence on East Weber Road, as they will not be there tonight. Complainant is concerned for teenage child that will be there alone.

May 24, 3:54 p.m. – Lind complainant requested contact. Deputy Madison attempted phone contact but no one answered and there was no message or voicemail available.

May 24, 12:52 p.m. – Hatton complainant was concerned about vehicles they have seen in Hatton. Complainant advised of having problems with people in Kahlotus and believed these people were following the complainant. Sergeant Taylor assisted the complainant by following them out of town to state route 26.

May 24, 8:54 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised seeing suspicious items in a rental home on East Hiller Road.

May 23, 11:22 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by WSP Trooper Elkins with a DUI arrest at a location on I-90 westbound near milepost 220. Deputy Madison responded.

May 23, 7:21 p.m. – Hatton complainant requests deputy contact. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant on Apple Alley Lane. Complainant requested assistance with their child who was having difficulty with their medications. Upon investigation Dep. Buriak determined no threats on persons or property were made. Complainant was provided with phone numbers to contact mental health if needed.

May 23, 5:50 p.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Verhey located a front door open on East Second Street. The building was checked and secured.

May 23, 12:21 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a subject selling sick dogs in the area of East Third Street. Deputy Lane made contact with the subject and was unable to find any sick dog on the property.

May 23, 7:06 a.m. – Agency assistance was requested at the Adams County Jail. Undersheriff John Hunt transported an inmate to the hospital for medical treatment until jail staff was able to take over.

May 22, 7:24 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a female subject walking near North Marcellus Road and East Harder Road. Deputy Bernath spoke with the subject who advised she was walking to a friend’s home.

May 22, 3:42 p.m. – Ritzville complainant called to report a suspicious person and vehicle that came to their residence on East Hiller Road. A male subject knocked on the door and then opened the door when the complainant didn’t answer right away. Subject was driving a red Jeep Cherokee and asked directions to Spokane. Vehicle left towards Ralston. Sergeant Mock checked the area extensively but was unable to locate the vehicle.

May 22, 10:20 a.m. – Complainant from Colton reported their dog was attacked by three other dogs in the area of West Lind-Warden Road, Lind. Deputy Verhey contacted the dog owners and informed them of the state’s dangerous dog laws and to keep their dogs on their property.

May 20, 7:23 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of two suspicious vehicles in the area of East Rehn Road, at 3:45 p.m., complainant advised their neighbor observed a red Pontiac style vehicle and a blue grey older square body Nissan. Complainant checked the area and didn’t observe anything missing but wanted the Sheriffs office to be aware in case contact was made with those vehicles in the area.

May 20, 2:15 p.m. –

Lind complainant advised of an abandoned Toyota Four-Runner on their property at South St. Claire Avenue that has been there for a year. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant and completed the hulk vehicle form as requested.

May 20, 10:00 a.m. – Notified of an alarm activated at a location on East Lind-Ralston Road, Ritzville. Deputy Verhey and Trooper Mark Shepherd contacted the residence. The listed resident also contacted and advised they believed the alarm set off mistakenly. The residence was secure and all units cleared.
