May 8, 10:23 p.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Ben Buriak observed a male subject walking westbound toward Lind on Hwy 21. Dep. Buriak made contact with the subject and he advised his vehicle was out of gas and he was walking to town to get some. Dep. Buriak transported the subject to Pacific Pride where he was able to get gas for his vehicle. Subject was transported back to his vehicle.

May 8, 9:43 p.m. – Ritzville complainant needed assistance with a light at Sprague Lake. Deputy Jeffrey Lane contacted the complainant and helped them return to the boat launch.

May 8, 8:50 p.m. – Lind complainant called to advise their 14-year old child had run away from East Fifth Street. Sergeant Stacy Flynn made contact.

May 8, 6:34 p.m. – Lind complainant called and reported a shed was broken into on East Sixth Street and a gas can was missing. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant who advised they were missing a 5-gallon gas can from their shed that was full of gas.

May 8, 6:24 p.m. – While on patrol, Sergeant Flynn located three calves out in the roadway near East Weber Road, Ritzville. Sgt. Flynn got animals back into the pasture and cleared the scene.

May 8, 3:05 p.m. – Request for a standby for peace at District Court. Sergeant Flynn and Deputy Buriak stood by and ensured the peace while three protection order hearings were conducted. After the hearings were finished, Sgt. Flynn and Dep. Buriak cleared without incident.

May 8, 1:34 p.m. – Odessa complainant advised they observed a pickup truck with no further description available on their property near North Hwy 21. Deputy Dan Verhey checked the area and observed no vehicle but there was a tire and footprints left behind. Dep. Verhey contacted the complainant and was advised no items were taken.

May 8, 10:22 a.m. – Ritzville complainant reported suspicious activity in the knocked down building north of their residence on Ease Hiller Road. The complainant observed the vehicle traffic during the day light hours but is most concerned with the traffic after dark hours. Complainant would like extra patrols in the area and will call if they see activity.

May 8, 8:20 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Verhey observed the yield sign was down at a location on South Thiel Road, Washtucna. Dispatch sent an e-mail to Public Works.

May 8, 7:58 a.m. – Washtucna complainant reported three head of cows out on East Hampton Road. Deputy Verhey located two yearlings and one female. The female and one yearling were white with black spots and the other yearling was black with white spots. Dep. Verhey contacted several houses and farmers in the area and several phone calls were made but was unable to find the owner. The cows were clear from the roadway and not in danger. Dep. Verhey will check the area on May 9.

May 7, 11:35 p.m. – Lind complainant advised someone was taking things from the carport of the house behind theirs. When complainant told the subjects to leave, they shouted obscenities at them and left. Complainant wrote down the vehicle registration. Deputy Lane was unable to locate the subject or vehicle. Nothing appeared disturbed. Dep. Lane will attempt contact and follow up May 8.

May 7, 8:06 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a large bale in the middle of the road at an unknown location on North Lind-Warden Road. Complainant is enroute to clean it up.

May 7, 4:54 p.m. – Complainant from Salem, Ore., advised of a dog bite at a location on North Hwy 21, Ritzville. Was also advised the bite occurred on May 4 and complainant resides out of state. Deputy Buriak called the complainant regarding the dog bite and was advised they would be sending pictures and copies of the medical records. Complainant advised they were trying to adopt a rescued dog and it bit them on the back. Dep. Buriak contacted the dog owner regarding the matter and the dog is no longer on the adoption list.

May 7, 4:21 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a bicycle theft from the Lind Grade School. Complainant advised the bicycle was secured to the bike rack and the lock was broken. The bicycle was described as a silver Diamondback BMX type bike. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant at the school. Dep. Buriak searched the town of Lind for the bicycle and it was located. Dep. Buriak contacted the listed juvenile who took the bicycle. The juvenile is a family member of the bicycle owner and will pay for the lock.

May 7, 7:02 a.m. – Othello complainant advised of an erratically driven vehicle with front-end damage in the area of West Lee Road, Lind. The vehicle was described as a white Dodge truck. Deputy Adolfo Coronado checked the area and was unable to locate it.

May 6, 9:31 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised they hear what sounded like gunshots near their residence on North Deal Road. Deputies Ned Bernath and Lane responded to the area with Troopers Tyler Fryberger and Carmen Herrington. The officers did not locate anyone in the area or evidence that someone had been shooting. All units cleared.

May 6, 12:44 a.m. – Ritzville complainant reported lights on inside a business on West First Avenue and a vehicle parked outside. Business was closed two hours prior. Deputy Bernath checked the area and the business all appeared fine. Dep. Bernath made contact with the owner and cleared without incident.
