71st Washtucna Alumni Banquet set for Saturday

The Washtucna High School gym will fill with alumni this weekend at the 71st Annual Banquet. The banquet is set for Saturday, May 26, beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m. in the back of the gym. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. Tickets are no longer available for purchase.

A portion of cost of the dinner goes towards a scholarship for a deserving student from this year’s senior class.

The Washtucna alumni association is led by Scott Blankenship, president; David Baumann, vice president; Steve Lalonde, secretary; CoCo Daley, treasurer; Codi Titus, membership; and Elizabeth Sitton, publicity. The board currently has a vacancy for social chairperson.

The honored classes for the banquet are:

Class of 1927 grads, celebrating 85 years is Bertha (Sitton) Denton, Cecil Elliott and Raymond Elliott. Deceased members are Esther Day, Harriet Leonard, Wayne Leonard, Nora McNichols, William Pearce and Mary Roesch.

Class of 1932, returning for their 80th year is Helen (Schafer) Burkhart, Johnny Pearson, Paul Shugert and Evelyn (Milam) Thosath. Deceased members are Vernon Burkhart, Ralph Graham, William Hearst , Remmert Heater, Dale Holliday, Alice Roe, Velma Sitton and Eleanor Tilson.

Class of 1937, celebrating 75 years are Marie (Johnson) Copper, Ernest Geschke, Ruthie (Lobe) Gillis, Alta (Mitchell) Hawks, Mary Jane (Sutton) McFarland, Bessie (Crofford) Nave and Lou Rogers. Deceased members are John Bachman, Jack Baumann, Emma Honn, Phyllis Sanford, Henry Schafer, Vernon Schafer, Ray Sitton and Will Winn.

Celebrating 70 years in the class of 1942 are Anita (Kent) Haspidus, Barbara (Scott) Rickenback and Dan Sullivan. Class members who are deceased are Jim Daugherty, John Desposato, Harlie Frisch, Bob Gillis, Shirley Goetz, Russell Johnson, Dean Schlecht, John Sitton, Bill (Hilltop) Snyder, Joe Stephenson and Lois Taylor.

Class of 1947 in their 65-year are Elmina (Babb) Cozad, Della May (Barr) Evans, Milton Myers and Bennie Sitton, Sr. Class members who are deceased are Annella Allen, Harold Clinesmith, Lloyd Griffith and Bob Schlecht.

Sixty-year graduates from the class of 1952 are Ned Baxter, Marilou (Robinson) Burns, Marjorie (Sitton) Hancock, John Gray, Donna (Gronquist) Jarvis, Carol (Evanson) Kennedy, Bob Schafer, Lloyd Wachtel and Tony Williams. Deceased classmates are Theresa Guider and Fern Holliday.

Class of 1957 members are Sandra (Austin) Gasko, Barbara (Johston) Hubbard, Marian (Depee) Laib, Geneva (Fechner) Thorp and Jim Wolf.

Fifty-year graduates from the class of 1962 are Glenn Albert, Carl Blauert, Harold Braman, Pam (Meise) Brown, John Crouse, Elaine (Huddle) Depee, Ken Depee, Mike Holliday, Connie Little, Mickey Murphy and Jeanne (Snyder) Zepp. Kay Jantz is deceased.

Class of 1967 graduates are Jody (Connell) Allen, Gregg Beckley, Patti Borgens, Morris Denman, Bill Fast, Chris (Dorian) Hille, Judy Jensen, Lawrence Lawton, Bob Mansfield, Paul Meise, Syd Piercy, William Cliff Plumb, John Sullivan, and Kay (Gillis) Trainer. Marking their silver anniversary is the class of 1987, which includes Calvin Gauthier, Ross Lawton, Candy (Clodius) Ritts, Joe Stuart and Zane Wilkes.

Class of 1992 graduates are Damion Gilchrist, Andrea Hille and Joe Maestas.

Marking their 15th year is the class of 1997; class members are Angela (Stoess) Duff, David Hollenback, Jason Kent, Natalie (Honn) Kinch, Casey Rouleau and Michael Stromberger.

Ten years together is celebrated by the class of 2002 including members Amelia (Sanchez) Bernal, Lindsey Blankenship, Matt Brodahl, Elizabeth Ebert, Willie Hodgson, Heather (Kinch) Moore, Amy (Whitman) Plummer and Dawn Thompson.

Class of 2007 graduates are Holli Baumann, Caitlin Blankenship, Hans Guske, Andrew Hagmann, Michelle Long, Storm Morford and Juan Ramos.

Graduating class of 2012 are Jena Goude, Jason Hulett and Amanda Woodard.
