School levies pass with ease

Local school districts can breathe a collective sigh of relief following the ballot count on Tuesday night. Maintenance and operations levies for the Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna School Districts are passing easily.

Voters in the Lind School District had 289 voters chime in on the measure. A super majority of them, 65.6 percent (188) voted in favor of the two-year replacement levy.

The Ritzville School District had an even stronger turnout.

From a total of 744 ballots counted on Tuesday, 521 Ritzville voters were in favor of the levy, a 70.03 percent affirmation.

Washtucna School Distrct also seems to be marching forward with a successful levy effort. 74.11 percent (83) of the 112 ballots counted were in favor of the levy.

Ballots continue to be counted by Adams County elections officials, as they arrive in the mail during the next couple of weeks. The vote is certified at the end of the month.
