Mildred Emma (Ellis) Woodyard

Mildred Emma (Ellis) Woodyard, age 91, died Sept. 23, 2011, at DeKalb, Ill.

She was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Endeavor, Wisc., to John B. and Emma C. (Ely) Ellis. She taught home economics in Wisconsin, Washtucna and Prescott, worked part time at the Washtucna post office and had been active in Rebekahs, Rimrock Grange and Washtucna Seniors.

She was a member of Washtucna Community Church and its Women’s Circle.

She is survived by her children, Ella C. Woodyard of Connell, Lewis J. “Chip” Woodyard of Washtucna and Susan B. Woodyard of DeKalb and siblings Ardith H. (Ellis) McDowell of Madison, Wisc., and Audrey L. (Ellis) Kuring of DeKalb, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Woodyard; parents, John and Emma Ellis; siblings, Jonette (Ellis) Mills, Henry (Hank) Ellis; in-laws, Don McDowell, Gene Mills, Esther (Woodyard) Day and Grace (Woodyard) Slawter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Washtucna Community Church with Pastor Dennis Evans officiating.
