Lady Broncos of Lind-Ritzville/Sprague head to tourney

The Lady Broncos are headed for the 2011 2B Volleyball Tournament tonight, Thursday, Nov. 3. They will face Davenport in the first round of tournament play at St. Gerogre’s, on the west court immediately after the Game No. 3 which is between Liberty and Northwest Christian.

“For us to be successful in tournament play we must play aggressive,” said head coach Cari Galbreath. “Everyone must be aggressive. Our middles must be very active and our outside hitters consistent.

“Defensively we will need to play disciplined. We all will need to play smart in picking out our opponents’ weaknesses and getting them uncomfortable. There is nothing we can’t accomplish but we must go in there with the idea and the will power to compete every point, game and match.”

The Lady Broncos closed out the regular season Thursday, Oct. 27, against Northwest Christian. The lost the match in three games, 19-25, 19-25, 14-25.

“We started with a lot of fire and energy and good things were happening. Our beloved player Andrea Bennett took a blow to the ankle and ended up being escorted to the emergency room by the ambulance. It was a sad and devastating event for all present to witness,” Galbreath said. “This happened early on in the first game and we were winning.”

The results from the match included Jenna Bennett with two kills, 10 assists and seven digs. Kaytlin Phillips had three service aces and eight digs. Brittany Ste. Marie provided three kills, one ace and seven digs. May Wahl served up three kills and five digs.

Sydney Nelson finished with one assist and four digs. Andrea Bennett had two kills and four digs. Dalyn Killian had three kills and one dig. Davis Killian had five kills, two digs and three blocks.
