July 26, 2011

Arturo Brenes-Vidal pled guilty in Adams County Superior Court to one count of a felony driving while under the influence charge in a case filed on June 17, 2011. Judge Richard W. Miller sentenced Brenes-Vidal to 33 months with the DOC and nine to 18 months of community custody. Brenes-Vidal is responsible to pay $500 crime victim assessment, $200 criminal filing fee, $30 sheriff’s fees, $350 court-appointed attorney, $500 fine, $175 DUI fines, $100 crime lab fee and $100 DNA fee. An interlock device is required for 60 months.

July 25, 2011

Myra Lucero Valencia pled guilty to one count of first-degree criminal trespassing in a case originally filed on April 23, 2010. Judge Miller sentenced Valencia to 18 months of confinement with the Department of Corrections (DOC). No supervision was ordered. Valencia is responsible to pay $500 crime victim assessment, $200 criminal filing fee, $227 sheriff’s fees, $350 court-appointed attorney and $500 fine.

Myra Lucero Valencia entered a guilty plea on one count of bail jumping for a case filed on July 9, 2010. Valencia was sentenced by Judge Miller to 22 months with the DOC and no supervision was ordered. Valencia was ordered to pay $500 crime victim assessment, $200 criminal filing fee, $86 sheriff’s fees, $350 court-appointed attorney and $500 fine.

July 21, 2011

Jose Luis Caro Ramos pled guilty to one count of third-degree assault with substantial pain in a case originally filed on Feb. 16, 2011. Judge Miller sentenced Caro Ramos to 30 days in the Adams County Jail with credit for time served with the option to convert 30 days to Electronic Home Detention to commence on or before Sept. 21, 2011. A no-contact order was entered. Caro Ramos is responsible to pay $500 victim assessment fee, $200 clerk’s filing fee, $116 sheriff’s fee, $350 attorney fees, $500 fine and $100 DNA collection fee. No supervision was ordered.

July 15, 2011

Sharon Lynne Provost was convicted by a jury on June 23, 2011, on four counts of first-degree animal cruelty and two counts of transporting or confining in an unsafe manner in a case originally filed on July 25, 2008.

Judge Tari Eitzen used the first-time offender sentence for Provost on July 15. The judgment and sentence was amended and filed on July 21, 2011.

On the felony charges, no jail time was ordered but 12 months of DOC supervision was ordered. Eitzen ordered Provost to pay $500 victim assessment, $200 clerk fee, $1,212.28 sheriff service fee, $350 attorney fee, $100 DNA fee and $1,150 fine for the felony counts with restitution to be determined. For the misdemeanor charges, Provost was sentenced to 60 days on each count, to run concurrent, with 60 days suspended on each count. One year of unsupervised probation was ordered and a $150 fine.
