Lind schools set $3.3 million budget

Lind School Board members met last Thursday night for a budget work session prior to the regular meeting to discuss the coming year’s budget.

During the regular board meeting, board members unanimously approved a resolution to set the final appropriation level of expenditures for the 2011-2012 school year based on 190 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. The 2010-2011 budget was also based on 190 FTE students.

The resolution set expenditure limits for the general fund at $3,387,429 and $43,900 for the Associated Student Body Fund. Nothing was appropriated for the transportation vehicle fund.

Included in the general fund is a budget of $1,221,723 for certificated salaries; $539,518 classified salaries; $669,069 for employee benefits and payroll taxes; $277,679 in supplies, instructional resources and noncapitalized items; purchased services $548,410; and $101,082 in capital outlay.

Business Manager Vi Holland provided the board with a list of state and federal grant revenues for 2011-2012.

Revenues include: IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Act) Program 24, $45,308; Carl D. Perkins, $2,232; Title I Regular, Program 51, $63,103; Title IIA Teacher Quality, $12,043; Title IID Technology, $220; REAP/SRSAP (Rural Education Achievement Program/Small, Rural School Achievement Program), estimated $18,000 plus $26,675 carryover; Title I Migrant, $30,000; LAP (Learning Assistance Program), $39,210; TBL (Transitional Bilingual Program), $19,194; and ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program), $25,000 estimated.

The board set the beginning general fund balance at $460,000 with an ending fund balance of $195,612 for the 2011-2012 school year.
