Nighttime seat belt enforcement patrols net 220 citations in three counties

Between May 23 and June 5 extra law enforcement patrolled city and county roadways at night looking for unbuckled drivers.

During the patrols in Grant, Adams and Lincoln Counties, a total of 220 citations were written including 61 seat belt tickets, one DUI and 23 child car seat infractions. In addition, 61 speeding violations, 11 cell phone and two aggressive driving infractions were issued. Two felony drug arrests were made as well as 16 uninsured motorist and 11 suspended/revoked license violations issued.

The Central Basin Traffic Safety Task Force, law enforcement from Grant, Adams and Lincoln Counties and more than 110 other police and sheriff agencies statewide worked the extra patrols, funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
