    On Tuesday, the St. John-Endicott Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Tigercats in St. John with three back-to-back sets – 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20.     The Northeast B game of the week was in Colfax last Friday when the undefeated Bulldogs hosted the equally undefeated LRS Broncos. While Colfax has been posting huge wins around the eastern portion of the state, this outing was destined to be a high caliber gridiron clash.     The Ritzville Junior High Associated Student Body (ASB) is putting on a Fall Walk-a-Thon. It is where 6-8 graders will walk around the track for a fundraiser. Students will have the option to dress up in Halloween costumes, since the Walk-a-Thon will take place on Monday, Oct. 31. All junior high students will be at the football field at 2 p.m., and will walk until 3 p.m. The proceeds will go to the junior high ASB spring field trip to Pattison’s.   • Doctorate degrees for husband, wife team within two months

    Doctor of Philosophy degrees were recently earned by the wife and husband team of Andrea and Joshua Johnstone. Andrea graduated in 2005 cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry and was admitted as a Lois Pop Life Scholar in the Neuroscience Graduate Program at the University of Miami. After joining LemBix laboratory, she was awarded an NIH F31 NRSA Fellowship to fund her graduate studies on Novel compounds that overcome glial inhibition of CNS regeneration.... Full story

    Elvin Lynn Wilks, age 64, died Sept. 26, 2011, at Twin Falls, Idaho. He was born April 13, 1947, at Peola, Wash., the son of Aaron Wilks and Wilma Polumsky. He began school at Flora, Ore., and completed his schooling at Lostine, Ore., before his marriage to his first wife, Eunice Lathrop.
