On Friday, April 28, Ritzville Volunteer Firefighters David Breazeale and Robert Dew were honored at the Eagles Lodge for saving the life of Randy Shimek from a structure fire on the morning of Nov. 10. Those who attended the event had the opportunity to enjoy a baked potato bar and celebrate the firefighter’s heroic efforts.   • LR School Boards prepare for change in attendance law

    The Lind and Ritzville School Boards met on April 24 to discuss changes in the truancy policy for absent students and needs surrounding the schools. Lind-Ritzville High School Principal Ronanda Liberty provided an update on the change on the attendance law. She has been working to draft a new truancy policy, which the districts will adopt during the next meeting, after review.   • Lind Fun Fair returns Saturday

    The Lind Fun Fair is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, from 1-4 p.m. at the Lind Elementary School gym. All the funds collected are used to support and improve the Lind Schools facilities and provide activities for students. This year, the Fun Fair committee is raffling off an Amazon Fire tablet. Raffle tickets are $1 each. Ticket prices are $.25 each or 25 tickets for $5. Menu items include pizza sticks, deep-fried corn dogs, soft pretzels with cheese, homemade doughnuts, popcorn, rice crispy treats and caramel apple slices....

    The Lind-Ritzville High School (LRHS) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) club traveled to Moscow on Thursday to experience the University of Idaho’s College of Engineering’s 26th annual Engineering Design Expo.
