    The Goodwill Truck will be in Lind on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, May 7, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The truck will be parked next to the Lutheran Church located at 120 West Third Street. No couches, recliners or mattresses will be accepted. The Lind Calvary Assembly of God is sponsoring the event and proceeds will support summer camp and youth activities.     Members of the Lind Alumni Association have announced the annual Lind Alumni Banquet is being held Saturday, May 6, at the Lind-Ritzville Middle School gymnasium, formerly Lind High School. Photos of the honored classes will be taken by The Journal and are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. It is requested members of the honored classes be present at that time to be included in the photos. Ann Murphy is the president of the League of Women Voters of Washington, and Lin McGinn is the membership chair of the League of Women voters of the Spokane area.     The Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners met on April 27 to review and discuss the financials of the district, as well as current changes at the facility.   • Lind Council approves to pursue grant for airport maintenance

    The Lind Town Council discussed improvements to the town’s airport during the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 25. Mayor Jamie Schmunk said she received an email from the town’s airport engineer stating the facility is scheduled for runway maintenance at the estimated cost of $125,000. She said they are currently applying for a 95 percent grant through the Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation, which needs to be submitted by May 12.     In spite of the inclement weather this season, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague tennis team has remained competitive in league play and continues to have a large turnout of athletes.     Knowing that rural areas face special challenges when it comes to emergency responders, Sen. Mark Schoesler has successfully proposed a change in state law that eases the first aid-training requirement for volunteer ambulance drivers.
