  • Changes needed at EARH

    Updated Jan 11, 2019

First, I would like to clarify that the correct name for the foundation is East Adams Rural Healthcare Foundation, not Hospital Foundation. Whoever is running the website for EARH needs to get Kellie Ottmar and I off the website as being officers of the foundation. Our separation, as well as Doris Larson’s separation, pretty much removed us from the foundation. It has been almost a year since Doris and I have been at EARH and several months for Kellie. Second: The S.A.I.L. classes have been revised but it is not new, as it h...

    Dale Anderson|Updated Jan 11, 2019

It wasn’t the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last, but I did write a column last week. It didn’t make it into the paper because for some odd reason I forgot to send it. Laugh if you must but sometimes being retired means not having as many cares in the world that you normally would and when you think you hit send well let’s just say there are probably a lot more people like me than we would like to admit to. So the column I wrote last week had some dated material... Full story

  • Sen. Mark Schoessler

Senator Mark Schoesler, Ninth District|Updated Nov 15, 2018

Cell phones have their place, but it can be nice to step back in time by going to a place where my phone simply won’t work. Recently I let my legislative staff know that I would be out of range for a few days, and headed for the Blue Mountains and some elk hunting with good friends. Whether I bring home some meat or not, being out in the field surrounded by God’s creation is one of the things I enjoy most about this time of year (and Colt, my faithful hunting dog, is always up for chasing some birds). Hunting season isn...

  • Costs matter in hiring equation

    Don C. Brunell, Business Commentator|Updated Nov 15, 2018

They must keep costs on par with their competitors, because employees are a big part of their operating costs. According to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (Bureau) report issued last S... Full story

The battle involved more than one million American soldiers and resulted in more than 26,000 American military deaths. The toll was unimaginable, but the U.S. contribution and heavy sacrifice on behalf of the Allied... Full story

    Kathryn Schafer, Contributor|Updated Nov 15, 2018

Have you ever, for whatever reason, just hung on to old correspondence from a dear friend, a relative perhaps, or some long-ago special relationship? And then, just one day, bring them all out again and re-read them? This is exactly what the characters of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner will do in the upcoming play “Love Letters,” by A.R. Gurney and directed by Harry Schafer, on Friday evening, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. on the Trinity UMC Social Room stage. It’s not the usual lots-of-stage-movement type of play. ‘Meli...
