Rallycross season opens in Lind

LIND — Dozens of competitors turned out Saturday and Sunday for the season-opening rallycross race at Lion’s Club Arena.

Results for the event, the opener for the Northwest Rally Association 2023 series, were not immediately available.

Half of the classes raced on Saturday and half on Sunday.

The event also featured “fun runs,” which did not earn points or awards.

On Saturday, tech inspections began at 9 a.m., with racing starting at 11 a.m. for Group 1. At 3 p.m., the Group 2 races took place.

Saturdays classes included stock all-wheel drive, prepared rear-wheel drive, prepared front-wheel drive, modified rear- and front-wheel drive and modified all-wheel drive-naturally aspirated.

Awards for Saturday were presented that evening.

On Sunday, tech inspections took place at 7:30 a.m., with Group 1 racing at 9:30 a.m. and Group 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Sunday’s classes included stock rear- and front-wheel drive, prepared all-wheel drive, Open four-wheel drive and modified all-wheel drive-turbo/supercharged.

Sunday’s awards were presented late that afternoon.

Proceeds from the event benefited the Lind Lion’s Club.
