Late-arriving ballots change lead

LIND – Late-arriving ballots counted Friday, Nov. 5, by Adams County Auditor’s Office election staff appear to have led to the ousting of a sitting councilman.

After the revised county, the Town Council Position No. 1 race has challenger London Dew in the lead.

Dew trailed Tuesday evening, Nov. 2, after the initial tally, but now leads incumbent Rosemary Elkington by 15 votes, 106 to 91.

In the mayoral race, incumbent Paula Bell has a 6-vote lead over challenger Jamie Schmunk, 100 to 94.

For Position No. 2, Mike Wold has an 11-vote lead over Sheri Marlin 102-93.

For Position No. 3 Laura Dew holds a commanding 67-vote lead over Richard Baldwin, 131 to 64.

Jason Sanger leads Gretchen Youngren for Park and Recreation Commissioner Position No. 1 by a tally of 164-114.

Ritzville

interim Mayor Linda Kadlec has defeated City Councilman Dennis Chamberlain, 375 to 172, in the race for the 2-year unexpired term of former Mayor Gary Cook.

Chamberlain publicly conceded on social media, Friday, Nov. 5.

In the race for the 2-year at-large council position, Marsha Reimers Smith is leading incumbent Mark Weigand by 21 votes, 265 to 244.

Washtucna

In Washtucna, the Park and Recreation Maintenance and Operation Levy is approved 75 to 33, with 69% of the vote.

The election will be certified and final results reported Nov. 23.
