PREPARE FOR

HORSE SHOW

With twelve valuable cups, special cash prizes totaling $85 and regular premiums totaling about $500 the offerings for the Horse Show surpass any in the history of this premier Adams County event. Probably nowhere else in the state is there any such offering for prizes for a Horse Show, and as a result Ritzville is gaining a wide reputation as a community which features this big event. The show this year will be Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18. Already the farmers are taking an interest in the affair. They are getting their stock in shape, going over their harness and trappings and equipment so as to make the best possible showing.

Legion Plan Memorial

Day Observance

Ritzville citizens will pause Thursday for Memorial Day and to honor those brave men who gave their lives in World Wars I and II, with special services arranged by the local post of the American Legion. Veterans of World War II are requested to wear their uniforms. The committee from the Legion arranging the observance of Memorial Day here said, "Few persons here are without sons, brothers or other relatives who were called to serve in World War II. We invite them all to participate in these memorial rites honoring the memory of our soldiers and sailors of this and other generations, many of whom now rest in cemeteries here and throughout the world."

53rd annual Lind Rodeo

ready for next weekend

The 53rd annual Lind Rodeo, sponsored by the Lind Lions Club, is ready for action starting Friday, June 14, and running through Sunday, June 16. Hostesses in the event are Lind Rodeo Queen Kelly Palmer, a 16-year-old sophomore at Lind High School, and Rodeo Princess Holly Jo Wills, a 17-year-old sophomore at LHS.

Four persons die in Rainy

Memorial Day Crash

Four persons died about 11:30 Monday morning as Tacoma and Spokane cars, each homebound from the Memorial Day holidays, crashed about 10 miles south of Lind on U.S. 395. The Tacoma vehicle, driven by Karen L. Odegard, 19, Tacoma, was overtaking and attempting to pass another vehicle, according to Trooper Fred R. Young, when it struck a car driven by Charles T. Vanek, 62, Spokane. Evidence of the impact on the Odegard car suggests it had begun sliding sideways when the impact occurred. Rain was falling, adding to the hazards of driving.
