Open Season

Hayes Hennings took this 5x5 buck with a Tikka .243 rifle on opening morning, Oct. 17, of modern firearms deer season. The 12-year-old was hunting with his father, Scott Hennings. This is Hayes's second year of deer hunting. He is a seventh-grader at Lind-Ritzville Middle School.

Adam Labes of Lind took this buck Sept. 26 during muzzleloader season. Labes got his buck in the Ritzville game unit.

Layne Johnston of North Pasco successfully harvested this buck in the Kahlotus game management unit (381) on the evening of opening day, Oct. 17, of modern firearms deer season The freak-horned mule deer buck was still in velvet. Johnston made a 335-yard shot to get only his second buck ever.
