Disc Dogs do Sprague

SPRAGUE – Sprague Days was cancelled this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but that didn't stop Spokane Disc Dogs from holding a local championship of the Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship Series.

Two one-minute rounds were held in a 60 x 150-foot field with five scoring zones set up in the park next to the Viking Restaurant.

Turnout was limited, with skies filled with wildfire smoke categorized as hazardous.

Six dogs and eight throwers competed in the event, which uses Hyperflite flying discs as the official disc. Organizer Rodney Jamerson said it was the lowest turnout of any event he's held so far; with one small advantage - everyone went home with a prize.

Results are as follows, with the canine listed first, followed by the thrower.

1. Griffey/Shay Garvey

2. Gracie/Chris Jones

3. Rufus/Rodney Jamerson

4. Tricky/Rich Corcrain

5. Maisy/Wyatt Madden

6. Griffey/Kasey Garvey

7. Tricky/Eowyn Corcrain

8. Charlotte/Brad Schwartz
