Sales tax revenue increased in May

RITZVILLE — Adams County Treasurer Kayla Meise said an increase of 64% in state revenue sales and use tax was seen in May of 2020 over May of 2019.
Sales and use tax are moneys collected by the Department of Revenue from retailers for sales and use taxes.
Meise presented the findings to county commissioners at their June 15 meeting.
The increase, according to Meise, is due to new construction; with the money received in May collected by the Department of Revenue in March. Meise said she anticipates a potential impact of a 20-30% future decrease in collections in sales and use tax. She...
