LRS home basketball games to be streamed live

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Athletic Director Greg Whitmore announced on Dec. 6 that LRS home basketball games will be streamed live this season.

Lind-Ritzville High School, with the help of the Bronc Boosters, has partnered with the NFHS Network to invest in new technology that will allow the school to broadcast every game from Gilson Gym. For a monthly or annual fee, family and fans will be able to stream the games live if they’re unable to attend the game in person.

Games will not include a play-by-play announcer for the time being, as the school awaits more necessary wiring to do so. The score will be shown on the screen, and games can be watched on iOS and Android devices, iPads and computers or laptops with any browser.

To watch, users must subscribe and follow the Lind-Ritzville High School page on NFHSnetwork.com. An annual pass costs $5.83 per month and is billed once per year at $70, while a monthly pass is billed monthly at $10.99 per month and can be canceled at anytime. A portion of the subscription fee goes back to LRHS.

The first broadcast was last Saturday, Dec. 7, and included both junior varsity games and both varsity games against Riverside. The service will also be provided for football and volleyball games beginning in the 2020 seasons. Games will also be available on-demand to watch after they have concluded.

In the future, Whitmore said the school hopes to stream other school events, such as youth basketball games, assemblies and graduation.
