In his early years he attended and graduated from Lind High school in 1953. Shortly after graduating he entered the Marine Corps serving his country as a soldier.

He found his way back to Adams County and became an Adams County deputy sheriff. After serving the law, he served drinks for a few years in his own bar and followed that venture with a prolonged career as an industrial security guard and finished his work life with a rural mail route around Odessa.

Gene had a passion for playing, watching, and discussing sports; in particular basketball. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren in their sporting endeavors.

He loved nothing more than a cup of coffee and a chat with friends and acquaintances. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He spent many hours watching and praising their accomplishments.

He will be missed greatly by his loving family and friends.
