Washington State Parks celebrate 104 years, offer free day to visitors

In celebration of being established for 104 years, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is offering free visitation of all state parks on Sunday, March 19, for the public to gather and celebrate the beauty and preservation of Washington’s vegetation and wildlife.

March 19 is the third of 12 State Parks “free days” in 2017, when visitors are not required to display a Discover Pass to access the park for day use after the Discover Pass legislation provided State Parks with up to 12 “free days”.

The normal cost of a Discover Pass is $30 for an annual pass or $10 for a one-day permit and is required for vehicle access to state recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The free days only apply to state parks and a Discover Pass is still required on WDFW and DNR lands.
