Roybal purchases Brew Happy

The local Ritzville coffee stand Brew Happy Espresso is under the new ownership of April Roybal, who purchased the business from former owner Angela Miller last month.

Roybal, who also owns Ritzville Chiropractic, is excited for the new business venture and continuing to serve high quality coffee and snacks at the coffee stand.

The decision to purchase the shop stemmed from a longtime goal of owning a coffee stand with her daughter, but Roybal also purchased the business in order to diversify out of healthcare.

“It’s fun, simple and small enough to try for something I haven’t done before,” Roybal said.

Most importantly though, Roybal said, she wants to give back to the community that has been welcoming and supportive of her since she began working in Ritzville.

Roybal has spent the last weeks learning the intricate procedures of maintaining and managing the business. She said the work has been enjoyable, but the whole process is a learning experience.

She said she is grateful for the support she has received from Miller, as well as multiple employees to continue to work at the shop during the transition of ownership.

With a successful business already in place, Roybal said she is focused on continuing the high level of customer service and serving quality products that already had been established.

She said one main focus initially is to reevaluate the pricing system, and look into diversifying options for customers.

During the month of October, Roybal plans to host a Grand Opening celebration for the change of ownership. At the event, there will be coupons and drawings, as well as Brew Happy merchandise available for purchase.

Roybal currently has around 10 employees working at the coffee stand, and they are all area residents. Roybal stated it is important to hire local individuals, and help provide flexible schedules for those in need of part time work.

Brew Happy currently has daily specials available, and Roybal said they will continue to do discount days for specific groups of people, such as firefighters and law enforcement.

The stand has already expanded the inventory with the addition of bagels and gluten free cookies, and Roybal plans to use customer feedback to determine future products to be sold with the coffee drinks.

Roybal stressed the importance of improvement, and asked for customers to provide feedback on not only products, but on the quality of the drinks.

Roybal said if a customer is unhappy with the mixing of their drink to talk to the barista in order to remedy the situation.

Brew Happy Coffee Shop can be found on Facebook, where all the daily specials are posted with updated hours. The shop is located in the parking lot next to the Conoco gas station, near Interstate 90.
