Rudolf Rudy Fichtenberg

Rudolf “Rudy” Fichtenberg was born April 4, 1943, in Salem, Oregon, and died March 14, while traveling in Arizona.

Rudy was a retired United States Navy Veteran and for 32 years, he owned and operated Rudy’s Aviation in Lind where he took great pride in working for area farmers.

Rudy had a total of 49 years flying in his life time and worked part time for a potato and wheat farmer in La Conner.

Rudy and Polly returned to Lind in the spring to work for Conner Flying Service, Inc. in Lind, where they would reconnect with Lind farmers and friends.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Willie Fichtenberg. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Polly) of 23 years in La Conner and two children, Debbie Escovy (Warren) and three granddaughters of Katy, Texas; Andy Fichtenberg (Tia) and one grandson of Spokane; two brothers, Bernie of Spokane, and Arnie (Mem) of Mission, Texas, plus various other family members.

Friends are encouraged to join the family for the scattering of Rudy’s ashes on June 4 at 9 a.m. at the Lind Airport, followed by a Celebration of Life in Spokane, 12707 Bigalow Gulch at 3 – 6 p.m.

From Polly: I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we all know he’d want us to keep smiling.

He loved his life in Lind and especially cherished the times he’d take the plane for a “spin” just to enjoy the wide open spaces he always loved.

I hope you will all remember Rudy with many fond memories
